State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid said 17% of electricity would come from renewable energy sources by the end of 2041.
The government took several effective measures over the past 12 years and now the results are coming into light. Promotion of renewable energy has always been priority of Awami League government.
Over five million solar home systems were installed in off-grid areas over the past couples of years. It is now contributing significantly.
The government also introduced net-metering guidelines.
State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid requested British non-government companies to come forward and invest in clean energy while attending an online bilateral meeting with Lord Zac Goldsmith who is the British minister for pacific and environment. Among others, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson was present in the online bilateral meeting.
